CARRIE DELIVERS CUSTOM-DESIGNED TJ CARRIE HEART SHADOW BUDDIES
TO CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE

Palo Alto, CA – February 14, 2018

TJ Carrie is dedicated to visiting children who have Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) and offering a “Heart Warrior” message.  He visits children’s hospitals in the Bay Area and Camp Taylor, a free medically supervised California camp for children with heart disease, throughout the year.  On every visit, Carrie brings a special gift for each of the heart patients, a “TJ Carrie Heart Shadow Buddy”.  This buddy, which was designed to be a “friend like me”, has an incision down the chest and a red mended heart, complete with Raiders shorts and Carrie t-shirt.  Not only can TJ show the children that he his zipper scar, he can show that his heart buddy also has a scar.  The buddies provide comfort to the ill child and offers a unique form of play therapy.

The Shadow Buddies Foundation is dedicated to providing support and knowledge to children with severe illnesses and disabilities. The Foundation accomplish this through unique programs designed to enhance the lives of children and adults by fostering compassion and awareness of differences with a line of 31 condition-specific “Shadow Buddy” dolls.  Shadow Buddies offer seriously ill or medically challenged children the companionship of a friend “just like me.”  To date, more than 1M Shadow Buddies have been distributed world-wide.
